What a Time I am Having: Selected Letters of Max Perutz, edited by his daughter Vivien Perutz, has recently been published by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press. Narrated against a backdrop of family and friends, politics and war, literature and travels, these letters and diaries provide rare insights into the thoughts of a remarkable and very humane scientist.
